It is recommended that the database be installed onto a dedicated Oracle Server. For AssetWise to connect, the Oracle Database Client must be installed on the AssetWise Information Integrity Server computer.

Although not a requirement, it may be decided that AssetWise will be installed into a separate database instance. AssetWise's requirements of Oracle components installed on the database server are minimal. Therefore the AssetWise Oracle database can typically be installed in a way to match that of any corporate policy that database administrators may follow. For example, AssetWise can be configured to use dedicated table spaces if preferred.

A default installation of Oracle installs all of the Oracle components required by AssetWise with the exception of Oracle Text, which is required for FTR (full text retrieval). If you plan to configure FTR, make sure you turn on the Oracle Text option during Oracle installation.
